Bahay ni Maria

Have a meaningful vacation in Laguna by visiting Bahay ni Maria Calamba Foundation located at St. Joseph Cardinal Village, Brgy. Sampiruhan, Calamba Laguna managed by Missionary of Sisters of Our Lady of Fatima. Bahay ni Maria means House of Maria. The first time I went to the house was on 1998 during our school outreach program. Since then, my family and I visits the house yearly.

When you enter the gate of the foundation, the gentlemen and volunteers will welcome you with their sweetest smiles. There are no guards on the gate so if there are no persons around, you need to make your voice louder for them to hear you. They are quite busy taking care of the elderly.

The last time I visited here was already around 5:30PM. During this time, the "Lolas" (women elderly) are no longer allowed to be visited inside their rooms because it's already time for them to rest. Visiting time is 9:00AM-12:00PM and 2:00PM-4:00PM.

Bahay ni Maria Truck

Truck Service Used by the Sisters and Volunteers of Bahay ni Maria. This is quite old already

The foundation is not only a house for elderly but also a home of abandoned and mistreated children. I met a girl in the foundation who has been there since 8 years old. Now, he's already second year college in a nearby school. She lives in the foundation and also helps in taking care of the Lolas.

Currently (June 2012), Bahay ni Maria Calamba is a home for 22 elderly women. The number was given to my by Sister Immaculada or Sister Mac who has been staying there for almost four years already.

Currently, the foundation needs mostly the following:

  • 1
Cleaning supplies such as rags, detergent soaps, mops, disinfectants, dish washing soaps, etc.
  • 2
Sleeping supplies such as bedsheets, pillows, pillow cases, blankets
  • 3
Food donations such as rice and canned goods
  • 4
    Kitchen and cooking supplies
  • 5
    Clothing for the lolas
  • 6
Anything that will help the Lolas and the children of the foundation

For your donations please contact Sister Mac at telephone number 049-834-3217.

Lord's Garden of Soul

Just to share with you guys, the foundation does not accept Lolas that were not abandoned. The Lolas inside the foundation were all selected initially by DSWD or other reliable sources. If you are an ABLE person, earning, have resources and wanted to leave your Lolas or old parents at Bahay ni Maria, I apologize to say but they do not accept it.

We have to take care of our Lolas in the best way we can because I believe that they took care also of us very well. Please do not abandon your Lolas or your old mother. Regardless of your status in life or how busy you are in your life, we need to take care of them. Remember that we should not forget them despite our hardships or blessings in life. And they are one of the blessing that we have!

Your donations and help are very much welcome and appreciated. May God bless you! Or if you have question or you need? any assistance from me, just send me your message on the question box below.
